Andros Island

According to mythology, Andros was named after Apollo's grandson, Andros or Andreas. Combination of blue and white, windmills and little fishing boats are giving to the island the famous Cycladic atmosphere, but Andros goes beyond that.
The island is a perfect holiday destination as it is the most green from all the Cyclades. As a unique Cycladic island, Andros combines upland greenery with fine sandy beaches beautiful mountain villages and seaside ones as well as numerous water sources (Andros is famous for its pure water, which is bottled under the trade of Sariza) and small waterfalls.
Traditional Cycladic elements are combined with successive ranges of mountains with steep slopes which are separated by ravines, deep gorges, riverbeds and three verdant valleys planted with olive trees, figs, oranges, lemons and vineyards .Is only one and half hour from Piraeus port and sorter distance from Rafina port. It is a very attractive island with some traditional and very picturesque villages.

Gavrio is the main port with Hora or Andros being the capital and the second port of the island. The fortified town is a real jewel, which combines Venetian and Cycladic architecture, narrow stone paved alleys, arcades and bright coloured flowers.

The friendliness of its inhabitants adds one more element to the list of Andros' numerous reasons for visit.
